Quality assurance provisions.
1. The absence of any inspection requirements in the Commercial Item Description shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements; however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material
2. First article tests/inspections. First article examinations shall consist of the tests and inspections outlined in paragraph4 below. If the sample fails any test or examination, it shall be considered as a failure of the first article inspection, and the sample shall be rejected. Acceptance and shipment of the product shall be discontinued until corrective action, acceptable to the responsible government activity, has been taken. One portable fan shall make up the first article sample.
3. Production unit inspections/tests. Each completed production unit fan shall be inspected and tested in accordance with Table I to ensure compliance with the requirement of this commercial item description.
